ACT Artist Database

The artsACT Artist Database aims to connect businesses or individuals looking to engage local artists for paid opportunities.

The database is not a comprehensive list of artists within the ACT and artists self-nominate to be included on the platform. Parties interested in engaging an artist's services should reach out to the artist directly to discuss opportunities. Artists and businesses should refer to the Remuneration Principles and Practices for Artists and Arts Workers when negotiating contracts.

Should you require updates to you profile or wish to be removed from the Artist Database, please email artsACT@act.gov.au.

 

Eligibility

The database is for professional artists with an ACT-based practice. If you reside outside of the ACT, you must provide a statement demonstrating that your practice is primarily based in Canberra. For more information and guidance on what to include in your statement refer to page 7 of the Arts Activities Guidelines.

Once you have submitted this form, artsACT will review the information you have provided. If it meets the eligibility criteria, it will be added to the Artist Database.

Not all information you provide in this form will be displayed on the artsACT website. Personal information such as your ABN and residential address will remain confidential.

ACT-based arts practice statement

Applicants who do not reside in the ACT must strongly demonstrate that their practice is primarily based in Canberra by providing an ACT-based arts practice statement. Groups must demonstrate the majority of their members have an ACT-based arts practice.

Your ACT-based arts practice statement must address the following six points with a clear focus on the last two years:

  • Being recognised as an ACT artist by peers.
  • Evidence of consistently promoting yourself as an ACT artist.
  • Regularity of making and/or presenting work in the ACT.
  • Employment in the ACT arts sector.
  • Collaboration and active engagement with the ACT arts sector.
  • Formal training or education in the arts in the ACT.

This information will be used to assess eligibility to appear in the ACT Artist Database and must be thorough and relevant. Generally, this will only be applicable to residents of the immediate Canberra region. artsACT reserves the right to not accept applications from non-Canberra residents.

    Artistic Practice

    Must be no more than 200 characters. This will appear as your artist bio on your profile. Please format your response in the third person.
    Must be a URL. This will provide the opportunity to showcase your work.
    Must be a URL. Provide a link to your professional Instagram or Facebook account if you do not have a website.

      Provide an image to be used as a profile picture on the ACT Artist Database. This should be relevant to your artform or include your artwork. Landscape format is preferred.

      artsACT seeks to have people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience represented in the ACT Artist Database.

      The information you have provided may be added to the artsACT Artist Database.

      Your submission will be read by relevant ACT Government officers and may be used for data collecting purposes.

      artsACT respects the personal and confidential information you provide and will take all reasonable steps to prevent any unauthorised access, loss or misuse of information provided.

      artsACT will only use and/or disclose personal information in accordance with the relevant legislation, including the Information Privacy Act 2014. You should be aware the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2016 apply to documents in artsACT’s possession.
