    ACT-based arts practice

Any Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artist who resides in Canberra can apply.

Applicants who do not reside in Canberra may be considered where their application specifically and strongly demonstrates a Canberra-based arts practice or strong connection to Country. To establish a Canberra-based arts practice, artsACT will consider the following:

    • Being recognised as a Canberra artist by peers.
    • Evidence of consistently promoting yourself as a Canberra artist.
    • Regularity of making and/or presenting work in Canberra.
    • Employment in the Canberra arts sector.
    • Collaboration and active engagement with the Canberra arts sector.

Applicants who do not reside in Canberra MUST provide a statement that demonstrates that their practice is based in Canberra. Generally this only applies to people living in the immediate Canberra region.

If you are an Aboriginal person who has a traditional connection with the ACT, you are eligible to apply regardless of your residential address, but you should be willing to share outcomes of the residency with the local community through public engagement.

Note: applicants who reside in the ACT do not need to complete this section.
